30 Day Challenge: Day 25...

I think everyone has dreamed about owning this Chanel bag. And you're lying if you say you haven't. I have wanted this bag since I was a little girl. This is the first item that I'm going to purchase for myself when I start making the big bucks. I don't want it as a gift. I want to be able to tell myself, "This is it. You've finally arrived." Haha InshaAllah (God willing), one day. And it has to be black and gold. For some reason, I've recently become obsessed with that combination.

Kushn...

So...  I love discovering new things. And in honor of black history month, I have been looking for designers that bring together both of my heritages and exemplifies the true essence of African-American. I'm so happy I stumbled upon Kushn. I love wearing anything that reminds me of my Nigerian heritage. Ankara will always be a staple in my wardrobe. The leather and Ankara mix reflects a dynamic, colorful, and creative Africa. All the pieces are versatile and fun. I think I have to get something for my laptop. Their prices are a bit steep, but where else can you get something like this?

Jummah Mubarak...

It's Friday!!!!! I know I'm excited. MLK day is on Monday so most of us get to enjoy a 3 day weekend. My main plan is to sleep, sleep, and sleep some more. However, before I could do that I had to get through the day which was very eventful. After work and class, I went to Jummah and then had lunch with a couple of my friends. Then my best friend, Asma and I ran over to Red Mango for some frozen yogurt which was 10 times better than Spoonful. I an in love with the white peach flavor.

I then was sucked into going out to 2 kick backs later that night. I was too lazy to change out of my clothes, into something else, so I probably was entirely over dressed for the occasions. But hey, they see me on campus. They should know me by now. I really am in love with this outfit though.

Back to the basics...

So... it's almost midnight and I really wanted to post something. However, I refuse to get up and put cloths on in order to make a post. So I decided to make a list of the basics that should be in every woman's closet. Yes, I know that everyone talks about it, but no one ever seems to listen. Countless times I have gone in one of my friends closets and I can't create a simple outfit because I cannot find these basics that helps you make an incredible, yet easy ensemble.

The entire purpose of having basics in your closet is so that you can tie everything in together. You need items that are extremely versatile. I'm not talking about cheetah print thigh high boots(even if you think they are cute, they do not go with everything). I am talking about key items that you should really consider investing in because they will come in handy for those unexpected events, last minute meetings, or even those lazy days where you want to look cute, yet you don't want to put too much effort in what you are wearing.

So I guess we'll dive right into it.

1. Basic flats .
  • Find flats that are comfortable, as well as stylish, that can go with anything. It doesn't have to be black, just not overly complicated. Make sure that they are your size. We are adult women, I doubt our feet will grew any bigger.

2. White collar shirt
  • A classic item that has never gone out of style. Search for something that flatters you figure. Can't find anything that fits correctly? Take it to a tailor. You will never regret making that decision.
H&M- 29.95

3. A versatile cardigan
  • Something simple that can either dress up or dress down an outfit. It's best to have a few of these in your closet so that way when summer comes around, you have one that is light weight, and vice versa for winter.
Forever 21- 17.80
4. Staple jeans
  • Your staple jeans should be an item that isn't embellished heavily, nor extremely noticeable. They should tie an outfit together, not take over the show. And they do not have to be skinny jeans. Please, I beg of you, please make sure that they are jeans that flatter your figure and fit you correctly. Intentional back fat is never cute. Again, take it to a tailor if need be.

5. Little Black Dress
  • Self explanatory. Find one that works for you.
Forever 21- 22.80
6. A blazer
  • The most simple way to go from day to night. Plus, they are so much fun to mix and match when you're going to work or out with your friends. They also provide a little warmth on those unexpected chilly nights.
Forever 21- 29.80
7. A warm winter coat
  • Try a trench coat or a pea coat. Yeah, you want one that is cute, but go for something that will last a while that is also warm. It is never okay to look good with frost bite.

Zara.com- 99.90

8. Everyday bag
  • Look for a bag that is big enough to carry everyday essentials, yet small enough that it doesn't overwhelm you.

9. An evening clutch
  • I'm sorry, but you cannot carry a tote bag to a concert, a date, nor to a night on the town. Find something that is extremely functional yet fun.
Forever 21- 24.80

10. Reliable heels
  • We all notice that one girl at the party where everyone is anticipating the moment when her face collides with the floor. You never want to be that girl! So please invest in good, comfortable, and reliable heels. They are you best friend when it comes to unexpected outings that tend to come up.
Stevemadden.com- 89.95

These are the top 10 things I believe that every woman should have in her closet. There are a few other items that could be thrown on this list, but I thought I would keep it simple and not overwhelm you guys all at once.

I hope this is useful in helping you build your wardrobe... and happy shopping.
