Featured Fridays: Paige the Power Woman...

So... I'm bring it back (even though I've only done it once). Featured Fridays are so much fun to do, and will (hopefully) be coming once a month. So be on the lookout.

Who better to start with than Paige Nash. This Texas Tech University (Raider! Power!) Marketing major is a Senior from Dallas, Texas. She is one her way to building her what will be amazing career when she graduates in August (*sheds 2 tears). And what better way to start your amazing career with an amazing wardrobe and fashion sense to go along. She is one talented and driven individual. Definitely someone that I look up to, even though she's only 22. Paige is really headed somewhere. I just hope some of her wisdom has rubbed off on me in the years that I have known her.

KA: Tell us about yourself.
PN: I'm Paige. Born and raised in Dallas, TX. I'm a care free and happy go lucky character. I spend most of my time trying new restaurants and at the movies.
KA: So you're graduating. Why are you leaving me?!
PN: Haha, yes. After to graduation I will be moving back to Dallas and will be working in the wine industry.
KA: What company?
PN: E and J Gallo.
KA: Where do you find inspiration?
PN: In everything really. It can be a book or a movie. I like a lot of art. I like a lot of old stuff. I grew up watching old movies and a lot of TV show reruns.
KA: How would you describe your style?
PN: It really depends on the mood I'm in, so I would say eclectic.
KA: Who is your biggest style icon?
PN: I don't really have one. I really enjoy looking at blogs and tumblr. I like their style, but I wouldn't say there was just one person.
KA: What is one trend you wish would die?
PN: The bras as shirts. Like their wearing a regular bra with a jacket or a sheer shirt, and I'm like NOOO!
KA: So you're a fashion guru.... Tell us about that.
PN: Well former now. It's basically a fashion journalist with collegefashionista.com. I just walk around and take pictures of people who I thought their style was interesting.  Or if I had a special event in mind, I would take a picture of someone who fit that description.

The definition of beauty...

So many times we get on the internet looking for inspiration, finding women that we admire, basking in their beauty. But so many times, we come back also, analyzing everything that we think they have that we don't. So we constantly watch these make up gurus and read these blogs, trying to transform ourselves into the perfect Sara, Ashley, or Khabi that we can be. We forget to find the beauty within ourselves, even though we hear it repeated through our heads over and over again.

I love this project that a friend of mine, Lilian made about the definition of beauty. She really hit all the insecurities that we women face on a day to day basis. I admire her for being so creative and touching on such a topic that we often like to ignore or shy away from. Check her out. It is really beautiful.

Graduations...

I cannot wait till I am in your shoes this coming December, InshaAllah (God willing). I was so excited to see people that I have come to love in the past 3 years, walk across the stage. Congratulations to you all. It was fun seeing everyone and meeting their families. Next year will truly not be the same without you guys.

MOG...

I love the brothers in the Man Of God fraternity. These are some of the most gentle, kind, and sweetest guys that I have ever met. Typically, people who have so much faith in a different religion than I do, tend to shy away from me. However, none of them did. I was very surprised when the president asked me to perform at   their open mic night. It was a lot of fun watching them play games, sing, speak, worship, and have fun. Plus there was great coffee too. It was refreshing to have a different change of scenery.

Sorry for the quality. I seem to remember to ask my friends to record me right before I go up,
so they don't always have the best seats.

Kappasutra

I guess I was on a roll in the months of March and April because I really did perform quite a bit. One of my really good friends and someone people always get me mixed up with, Kobby, asked me to perform at his fraternity, Kappa Alpha Psi's event, Kappasutra for Kappa week. It was a wonderful event, and a lot of fun. I always try and support people who support me. We go way back since my freshman year. It was a good time. I guess you could say he's my #ManCrushMonday. Haha

Forever my favorite Kappa and namesake, Kobby.

Queens and Things...

I know this event happened months ago, but I wanted to share my performance from the Alpha Phi Alpha Miss Black and Gold pageant here at Tech. It was an elegant affair that was tons of fun and I was very honored when they asked me to perform. This was the 3rd time I have ever been up on stage performing in front of other people. It was nerve racking being up there, but I enjoyed the experience.

And shout out to Beverly for giving me the opportunity to exercise my personal shopper skills. It was fun running around Lubbock, looking for her outfits for the pageant. We definitely became closer through that exprience.

Congratulations to Beverly and Amy. They did an amazing job.
I'm so proud of you guys.

Admiration...

I am the type of person who will readily admit when something does not look good on me. However, it doesn't mean that I cannot lust over some of the different styles that are out. I applaud the women who can pull this off, because I am not one of them. So I'll stick to what I know and admire in awe.

I'm still alive...

I know you guys have missed me. This semester has been entirely too crazy for me. But it is coming to a beautiful ending. I have 1 final left on Tuesday, then I will be officially done for the semester. Hopefully with my new found freedom, I can get back to the grind. I have so many crazy ideas I want to do for the summer.  Hopefully, I don't start to get lazy and go MIA again.

I just wanted to share this video that made me laugh and think at the same time. In 2 of my psychology classes this semester, I have had to keep to journal of a lot of different things, applying techniques to solve problems, etc. I have learned a lot about myself in the past 5 months. I do not handle confrontation very well and this video reminded me of that. It's just something for you to think about and analyze yourself for a second. Enjoy and good luck on the rest of your finals.
