Self Realization...

I have really been MIA lately. Gosh, it's almost been a month since I last posted. I didn't mean to be so neglectful, but I needed a break from everything so I could focus on myself for a while. I needed to find a way to inspire myself. I saw that I started to lack passion in everything that I was doing. I don't like to produce something that I haven't put my all into. So I stopped.

After a lot of self discovery and watching this video, I found it. Be prepared. InshaAllah (God willing), because I am coming back with a completely different out look on life.

Kids will forever inspire me to keep moving forward. Hopefully you gain something from this too.

NEW YEARS!!!

Happy new years all (yes, we all know I have a terrible sense of time. I know I'm a week late)! I hope everyone's holiday season was amazing. I enjoyed my time at home with my friends and family, plus all my running around. Every year you hear people talking about "New year, new me." And it drives me insane. By February  you're back to your old ways. And as much as I hate having new years resolutions, I do have a few.

I want to go back to my old routine. So I guess it's not "NY,NM" syndrome. This past semester, I got so engrossed in school and work that I forgot about taking care of myself and the ones that I love. So I think that's where I'm going to focus my energy and time on, other than trying to make the Deans list. I drove myself insane last semester, then completely crashed the last week of school, causing me to miss the Deans list by .004 points. Highly upset with myself. But InshaAllah (God willing), I will do better this semester.

Hopefully none of you guys go over board with your new years resolutions. The ticket is to take baby steps. You can't do a 180 over night. Good luck on your goals. And you guys should look forward to me doing a little better with this blog. (=

HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!

Back to business...

My apologies for being MIA these past few weeks. There was so much going on with school. It was the worst time for my laptop to decide to crash on me. I lost all my pictures, all my music, and most of my documents. Including 2 of my projects that I had been working on for the past 2 weeks. I had to buy a whole new hard drive and a new operating system. But as you see, my laptop has come back to life again. Thank goodness.

So back to our regularly scheduled program (I hope). Today I had two different meetings. The first one was about how to make Texas Tech University a more diversified campus. I met with many different people from different departments at Tech, plus the Vice-President of the Division of Institutional Diversity, Equity, and Community Engagement, Dr. Paul Ruiz. It was quite fun. The second meeting was with the Chief Information Office. The meeting was about updates and improvements to Texas Tech's main campus website. I feel honored when I am asked to participate in meetings such as these. Therefore, I had to dress the part. How did I do?

Manners 101...

You know how you sign up for events, and then forget about them until you receive a reminder email the day before? That tends to happen to me a lot. I guess I'm not using my planner very effectively. There was an etiquette dinner that took place on campus a few weeks ago, in order for students to learn table manners. I love Texas Tech University because they want you to succeed in every way, and they will do anything to help you get there.

The etiquette dinner was provided by career services. Everyone should make use of departments and programs like these because they will teach you valuable lessons outside of the classroom. Plus, they typically have free food (Just an FYI). I learned a great amount of useful things at this dinner besides which fork to use. You never know when a company might invite you out for a dinner interview. It's always best to be prepared ahead of time, rather than flustered and nervous the day of (Now that I have my table manners down, I can focus on trying to make a complete idiot of myself in other ways. Haha).

The attire for this event was business casual. I wanted to keep it simple and classy with a 2 piece Ann Taylor suit and simple details. I feel like you should always go business professional, and show your personality with cute shoes, statement earrings, and an accenting belt. Leave all the other bells and whistles at home.
