Another one of Khabi's obsessions...

"Embrace what makes you unique, even if it makes others uncomfortable"
This woman is a major inspiration for me. It is none other than Janelle Monae. She has an impeccable sense of fashion and I love what she stands for. It is very rare that you find a woman that is in the main stream media that dresses so modestly. I love the fact that she doesn't feel the need to use her body to sell herself. Maybe growing up in Kansas City, Kansas, you don't really need to. What I love most about her is hair. She is a natural beauty and isn't afraid to show off the natural locks that God gave her. Props on that.

Monae is already a beautiful woman. This is probably the reason she is the new face of CoverGirl. I love the fact that she didn't have to change anything about herself to become a CoverGirl. She stood out from the rest an projected who she was onto the world. When she was pressured by Hollywood to change her style, she simply said no. And in being devoted to herself, her family, and her values, CoverGirl recognized her as being a strong individual that they wanted for their company. I applaud them for the message that they sent to the world.

Monae also won the Young, Gifted, and Black award at the 2012 Black Girls Rock! If you listen to her acceptance speech, you'll see why she received it. She dedicated her award to her humble beginnings and her hard-working parents. She truly is an inspiration for all of us. She embodies what a successful young black woman should be.
