Take a step up...

Do you always have that one friend who always tries to out do everyone else in the group when you guys go out? Haha, well I do. Are you tired of being looked at second or third behind everyone else? Well maybe it's time for you to become a little more adventurous when it comes to your wardrobe and take a step out of your comfort zone.

Try something daring, but something that still exudes your personality. 5 essentials that you will always need are: The dress, shoes, a clutch, earrings, and make up. A bracelet and a necklace are optional. Just make sure that they don't take away from the dress, which should be the center of attention (and maybe sometimes the shoes).

I just have a few rules (as always):
  • The dress should flatter your figure, and fit properly
  • Your make up should be sophisticated, not scary.
  • The shoes should be cute but comfortable. It's not sexy to have your heels in your hands after an hour.
  • A clutch is a small evening bag. A tote is not (please leave it at home or in the car).
  • Don't over do it on the perfume. A lingering fragrance is best, not one that suffocates people.
Keep these tips in mind next time you're shopping or getting dressed to go out with your friends. Hopefully they help. Have fun and be safe. (=

Winter is coming...

It's almost that time of year again. So you know what that means... it's time to break out the coats, jackets, hoodies, blazers, and sweaters. The only thing is, you never know what you might need. Here are a few tips to help you out when you are making your selection.
  1. A tweed blazer
    • You can never go wrong with tweed. It will keep you warm, while still making you stylish and professional in the office. You can even add it to a pain of classic black trousers for a simple sophisticated look.
  2. The hoodies
    • Hoddies are my all time favorites when it come to winter. Throw on a pair of jeans, and you have a warm and comfortable look. Look for something that is a little bit classier than your traditional hoodie, that way you can dress it up or dress it down.
  3. A jacket
    • It's always nice to have a simple jacket in your closet that you can wear anywhere. Something that can go from a bbq, to a football game, to a dinner in no time. You know my motto: Versatility is key!
  4. A pea coat
    • I have many of these in my closet. This is an item that every woman should own. It is sophisticated and classy. You can wear it all the time, as I like to do.
  5. Trench coat
    • For those extremely windy or rainy days, this is your go to coat. It will protect you from the elements, while looking super cute.
  6. Blazer
    • I love blazers. The can turn any outfit chic, and add extra warmth underneath a jacket or coat. You never know when you might have a dressy function to attend, so keeping one handy is always smart.
  7. The letter man
    • Not sure if this style is back in or not, but I still wear mines when I go to football games or anything athletic. It could just be a high school thing, but Letterman jackets keep you extra warm and protected. And don't you just love the leather arms?
  8. The leather jacket
    • Every woman should at least own one of these. A well made leather jacket can be an expensive, but you can make a leather jacket last for years if you invest in a good one. They are super warm and extremely versatile.

3 color rule...

I have gotten quite a few people come up to me and ask me how I get dressed in the morning. Honestly, I simply put on clothes that are suitable for the weather, make me feel comfortable, and is appropriate for the occasion. When I go to work, I have to dress business casual. I am at work 5/7 days of the week, so that's what my closet mostly consists of. What's the point in buying something that you can't wear on a regular basis?

I already talked about building your wardrobe, so you should already have a few items that you are comfortable with. I have this rule about wearing 3 colors. If you do not have an out standing sense of fashion, stick to this rule and you'll never go wrong. Think of something that you want to wear that day(this requires you to know what's in your closet). Find items that complement that piece, but stays within the 3 color rule.
